Hi All

I hope you all enjoyed the Diddy League final on Sunday 23rd June . Excellent swims, excellent result and excellent support. I know we would’ve liked to have won, but finishing 2^nd behind a good all round Derwentside team was very pleasing considering we were only ranked 4^th going into the final.

I will circulate times and positions when I receive them and confirm all promotions and relegations. However, we’ll be staying in Div 2 next year and we’ll be joined by Sunderland who were relegated from Div 1 and Hartlepool who were promoted from Div 3.

If any of you took photographs at the weekend, please send the best ones to me and Steven (our web site administrator) will add them to our web site.

Once again, thanks for your support parents and thanks to my poolside helpers who managed to avoid getting tangled up in jim jams and nighties long enough keep a semblance of order in amongst the enjoyable chaos that is the Diddy League!

Special congratulations to the following medal winners

Congratulations to Carissa Armijo and Joel O’ Halleron who were recently chosen to represent the North East of England at the Inter Divisional English School Championships. This was held on 29th and 30th June 2013 at Liverpool Aquatic Centre.

  

Carissa was selected to swim in the junior girls 100m butterfly and the 400m IM individual events, finishing 4th in the 400m IM and 7th in the 100m butterfly.

Carissa also swam in the junior girls medley and freestyle relays. The team won a silver medal in the medley relay and a gold in the freestyle relay. The freestyle team also set a new championship record.

Well done Carissa 🙂

 

Joel was selected to swim in the senior boys 200m breaststroke and the 400m IM individual events.

Joel won a gold medal, finishing 1st in the 200m breaststroke and also a silver medal, finishing 2nd in the 400m IM. 

Joel’s medal wins helped the North East senior boys to finish in first place overall.

Well done Joel 🙂

 20 swimming clubs from across the country took part in this gala. As a result of our swimmers success Gateshead and Whickham achieved 5^th place overall.
