Condolences: Sad passing of coach

It is with great shock and deep sadness that we heard the news of the death of a great fellow coach, mentor and friend Fred Furness.

For 28 years Fred has always been so helpful to me professionally and a great friend, he was such a passionate, genuine and sincere guy.

Several of our coaching staff and athletes have benefited from working with Fred in his role as Swim England Talent Officer.

He will be deeply missed by so many.

Our thoughts are with Fred’s family.

Three GAW athletes receiving help to further coaching careers

As part of our club long term Teacher and Coach development plan, three of our athletes have been selected for financial support in their Coaching and Teaching career.

Hannah Daglish and Rhiannon Zhao, both 16 and Ellie Norman, 17, have all consistently assisted our team of qualified teachers in both GAW Learn to Swim lessons and GLC “Academy”.

This summer they will attend intensive back to back Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Blended Learning Level 2 Swimming Teacher (Face to Face) courses.

Good luck to Hannah, Rhiannon and Ellie.
