REPORT: Chester-le-Street Junior Meet 25th – 27th October 2019

Swimmers impress at Chester-le-Street

With a traffic problem hindering and delaying the Friday evening session, we eventually got underway. The distance events were long but both Taylor Lewis and Max Murray made it interesting. Congratulations on two great times.

With much better weather than last year’s snow, we started Saturday morning with some good swims and personal best times.

Beatrice Wright showing how a 50 backstroke race should be finished and a massive improvement by Elliott Bond in the 200 breastroke.  The girls 400 IM was the best of the morning with Freya Dobbison, Kate Binningsley, Carman Gaish, Maddie Blakelock, Faye Brown and Maia Stovold all personal best times.

Finalists 50 backstroke, congratulations to Conan, Isobel and Molly (Performance), Lola Wright and Ethan Storey.  Moving into the afternoon session Isla Johnson made a big improvement in the 50 fly. Notable swims came in the 200 breastroke, technique improvement for Kate and Carman. The juniors also made big time improvement, Bea and Madeleine Jeffers.  Finalists were Conan, Isobel and Erin (Performance), Maddie, Evie Johnson and Maia.

Sunday started well as the personal best times were flowing thick and fast in the 200 frontcrawl and 200 IM. With Kate making the biggest improvement in the frontcrawl and Henry Stephenson  qualifying for the Skins event. Rebecca and Isobel (performance) doing a 13/12 seconds respectively, personal best times in the 200 backstroke. Notable swim was made by Henry in the 400 IM. Finalists were Conan, Max, Erin, Aoife (performance), Bea, Lola, Maddie, Evie, Jess Milburn.

And so to the final session of a long weekend, the swimmers continued to get personal best times and my notable technical swim was by Anabel Gaish in the 200 Fly. Finalists were Isobel, Aoife, Conan and Max (performance), Maddie, Evie, Owen Jackson, and Ethan, congratulations to all swimmers.

It was a pleasure to be Coach at the weekend, the swimmers were a credit to the club.
